Description
Thanks to the physiology Nobel Prize in 2014 the wider public could become informed about the central role of hippocampus in the orientation of the cerebral cortex region and in the spatial memory. However, it is still an open question that which neural network functions ensure this ability. In my lecture I shall demonstrate how the various approaches in neuroscience may help to answer this question: starting with the Ising model built on classical statistical mechanics and arriving at normative models based on Bayesian statistics.
