Description

Type Ia supernovae are one of the most significant stellar explosions since they can be used for distance measurements in the universe. Among their subclasses, Type Iax supernovae show the highest diversity while being the lowest energy explosions of all Type Ia. Our aim is to study their origins and the possibility of expanding the distance ladder with them. One of the key steps of my work was to build a database that helps to explore their properties and estimate the rate of these explosions. I found that there are about 12 Type Iax for every 100 normal Type Ia, making them the most common peculiar supernovae. The database has also been created for the public and will be available online for everyone. I also studied one of the faintest Type Iax supernovae ever, SN 2025zi, and concluded that even these explosions fit into previously investigated correlations, despite the fact that no existing hydrodynamical simulation matches their observed properties.
